Two detained from Cancun Internet cafe on child pornography charges

Cancun, Q.R. — Two males have been taken into police custody from a Cancun Internet cafe on pornography charges which fall under human trafficking. Their arrests were reported by the State Attorney General’s Office on Tuesday.

“After completing a search warrant for an Internet cafe, the arrest of Jesús del Carmen “N” and Eduardo “N” was achieved for their probable participation in the crime of human trafficking in its modality of the production of pornographic material,” they detailed in a statement.

The agency added that an investigation was started which lead to a search warrant. During the search, they reported finding and seizing “various sexual items at the scene – condoms and lubricants – as well as computer equipment that stored child pornography.

“During the investigation, a 14-year-old minor was also rescued, who is belived to have gone to the site to have sexual encounters in exchange for a financial sum.

“Experts from various specialties processed the place and collected evidence to incorporate it into the investigation. The defendants, as well as the evidence collected, were placed at the disposal of a judge who imposed the precautionary measure of preventive detention as their legal situation is resolved.”
