Cancun, Q.R. — On Tuesday, two Cancun taxi drivers were found shot to death inside their units. One of the taxi drivers was discovered dead in the driver’s seat of his car on a dirt road in region 213.
The discovery of the Andrés Quintana Roo Union taxi driver was made around 11:45 a.m. Tuesday morning after the car was reportedly seen parked about 300 meters from the main roadway of La Unión neighborhood.
Attending officials secured the area while agents from the homicide unit began the first investigations.
A second Andrés Quintana Roo union taxi driver was also found dead inside his unit Tuesday in the Delicias del Sur II subdivision in SM 317. A security guard notified police of a parked taxi with an unconscious driver inside.
When police arrived, the found the driver had been shot to death. He was found in the driver’s seat of his car with several gunshot wounds.
A cardboard message was reportedly left in the region 213 shooting accusing Andrés Quintana Roo Union taxi drivers “of picking up women and turning them over to organized crime.”
