Two Cancun police officers hospitalized after intersection crash with taxi

Cancun , Q.R. — Two Cancun police officers were injured after colliding with a Cancun taxi. The accident was reported early Tuesday in SM 21. One of the officers was reportedly taken to hospital in serious condition.

The C5 Command Centre in Cancun received the report of the 3:16 a.m. accident between an overturned patrol unit and a local taxi. The 54-year-old driver of the Andrés Quintana Roo union cab collided with the police truck at the intersection of Kabah and La Luna Avenues that left the patrol unit overturned.

The 42-year-old driver of the police truck apparently hit the taxi upon reaching the intersection. The strong impact caused the truck to fall onto its side. Ambulances arrived to attend to the injured.

Both the driver of the taxi and the driver of the police truck claimed a green light.
