Cancun, Q.R. — A dozing driver destroyed his vehicle Monday morning outside Cancun. Emergency personnel located the completely demolished truck along a section of the federal highway after receiving reports.
The driver of the pickup, 26 year old Jhonanan “T”, is alleged to have fallen asleep while heading south down the federal highway. Excessive speed has been factored into the crash.
According to available information, the young driver was heading south when he dozed and swerved off the highway and into a fixed structure. His Chiapas-plated truck reportedly rolled several times before finally coming to a stop.
Federal highway drivers heading south out of the city were stuck in a slow moving lane due to the single vehicle accident. Several passing motorists who witnessed the accident stopped to help the driver who was left seriously injured.
Paramedics rushed the driver to a Cancun hospital. He is reported to be critical. National Guard directed traffic around the accident site due to a widely affected area of broken vehicle debris. However, Cancun traffic was at a standstill while a tow truck blocked the only open lane to remove the vehicle from the side of the road.
