Riviera Maya, Q.R. — Construction company Comedco has taken legal action against infrastructure company Ingenieros Civiles Asociados (ICA) after they canceled a Maya Train contract.
ICA, who was hired by Comedco as a subcontract, is alleged to have canceled the construction of the connection between the Maya Train station and the Cancun International Airport.
Comedco, the company in charge of section 4 of the Maya Train, has filed a lawsuit against ICA for the termination of a public contract that was signed in October of 2023.
Comedco alleges that they were not adequately notified about the initiation of a prior administrative procedure, which it considers a violation of their honorability and the principles of due process, certainty and legal certainty.
As a result, Comedco is demanding the return of unamortized advances, the withdrawal of equipment and materials and the return of work tools that had been received on loan.
According to the SICT, while work does continue in the area, an electric bus will temporarily cover the 15.5 kilometer route between the train station and Cancun airport.
