Cancun, Q.R. — Several passengers were injured after their van collided with a semi on a section of Cancun – Puerto Morelos highway. The accident happened around 9:00 p.m. with police, national guard and Cancun firemen at the scene.
Paramedics from the neighboring municipality of Puerto Morelos responded to the need for medical attention at the site of the accident where several from inside the van were reported injured.
Those injured were provided with pre-hospital care, all of whom were found with non-life-threatening injuries.
Both vehicles were traveling toward Cancun when the driver of the semi trailer is alleged to have attempted a turn, invading another lane which caused the driver of the van to collide with the side of the heavy unit.
The transport van received a substantial amount of front end damage in the collision. No deaths were reported.
