Cancun, Q.R. — The driver of a tractor trailer had city and CFE personnel scrambling in Cancun after he took out five city poles with his unit.
The odd mishap happened on Uxmal Avenue in Cancun Tuesday around 5:20 p.m. when the driver of a semi tractor trailer managed to hook one of the street’s power lines. Five poles and three damaged vehicles later, the unfortunate accident came to a halt.
The driver of the truck was backing out of a tire shop when he made contact with a line. Members of the Cancun Fire Department arrived to secure the area. Although no human injuries were reported, at least three vehicles were damaged when the toppling poles fell on them.
City personnel from the municipality of Benito Juárez (Cancun) came to deal with the four felled street lights, while Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) authorities were on scene to restore outed power to Region 63, which suffered an electrical cut due to the downed line.
The driver of the unit has been identified as Guadalupe Herrera Guerrero from the state of Nuevo León. Power was reported out for approximately eight hours while CFE restored the pole and lines.
