Tulum, Q.R. — A young woman continues to fight for her life after crashing her car into the back of a construction vehicle that was parked along the Tulum-Playa del Carmen federal highway.
The crash happened at 9:45 p.m. Thursday along the federal highway when the woman reportedly hit the back of an improperly parked truck. The truck, which was allegedly without hazard lights, belonged to a local construction company.
The woman has been identified as 26-year-old Paola N, a Nuevo León tourist to the area. The Nissan Sentra she was driving was turned into scrap.
Justino Errasquin Abdala, director of the Tulum fire department, lead rescue efforts while Tulum emergency personnel worked laboriously to remove her from the twisted metal. The woman was rushed to a Playa del Carmen hospital where she remains in serious condition.
