Cancun, Q.R. — Three people were killed Monday night in a horrific single vehicle accident in the Cancun Hotel Zone. Police were on scene at Kilometer 16 after the driver of a private vehicle traveling along Boulevard Kukulcán lost control of his car and slammed into a palm tree.
His speed and the impact pushed the vehicle from the tree into the opposite lane where a pedestrian was hit. The car then ricocheted into a van before bursting into flames. The two people inside the private car were not able to get out.
Both burned to death inside the vehicle. Responding paramedics also reported the death of the pedestrian who was hit by the out-of-control car. The driver of the van was injured but not seriously. He was transferred to Cancun hospital for treatment. Police have not released any names of those involved in the accident.
