Cancun, Q.R. — Three men accused of kidnapping have been arrested in Cancun. The trio were taken into police custody after officers were flagged down by a man in distress.
Patrolling officers in SM 260 were hailed by a man Tuesday who was being chased by three others. The man in distress told officers that the men chasing him had captured him earlier and threatened to kill him.
He was able to escape from their vehicle which is why they were pursing him. In a Cancun Police statement, they said the man told officers he was on his way to work when he was approached.
“The aggrieved man stated that he was going to work when a white Nissan Tsuru with green stripes on the sides and three individuals on board approached him and threatened him with a firearm to board the unit.”
He was driven to a house and, “in an oversight of one of the men, he managed to escape and run,” which is when he saw the police unit and requested help.
After being positively identified by the victim, Cancun Police reported that Ezequiel “N”, Álvaro “N” and Ciro “N” were arrested on kidnapping charges.
A motive for the kidnapping or events leading up to the event were not disclosed. It is not known if the victim was a target or if it was a random attack.
