Three hospitalized in latest Cancun combi accident

Cancun, Q.R. — Seven people were treated for injuries in Cancun Monday when the combi they were in crashed. The accident happened around 2:00 p.m. along Niños Héroes Avenue.

Early reports state the driver of the public transport van was driving without brakes and unable to stop in traffic. Due to the high rate of speed, the combi slammed into a parked truck that sent it onto the central median.

The SM 221 accident caused a great deal of traffic delays with the closure of one lane. Seven people from inside the TTE unit were treated for injures by onsite paramedics. Three of the those injured required a hospital transfer.

Witnesses to the public accident made comments to responding Transit officers regarding the speed in which they drive. Angry witnesses and passengers from inside the unit suggested authorities take action against the constantly speeding public transport drivers.
