Cancun, Q.R. — Three men involved in the weekend shooting of a female police officer have been arrested in Region 99 of Cancun.
According to police reports, the incident began at 7:30 a.m. Saturday when a female officer was attending to the report of a street fight on Oaxacactún Avenue in Region 95. She was shot at and hit in the hand and leg by suspects inside a moving Durango SUV, which activated a Red Code that sent additional units to the area.
Those inside the vehicle then fled the scene, however, police located the SUV in Region 99 and proceeded to intercept the vehicle.
Elements of the Secretariat of Public Security of Cancun succeeded in arresting the three men responsible for shooting the Cancun officer. Taken into custody for attempted manslaughter were 38-year-old Manuel N, 30-year-old Irving N and 39-year-old Raphael N all of whom, are originally from Cancun.
The injured officer was transferred to the IMSS Hospital by colleagues where she is reported in stable condition.
