Texas authorities extradite fugitive to face Cancun rape and murder charges

Cancun, Q.R. — A man wanted in Cancun on rape and murder charges has been returned to Mexico from the U.S. On Thursday, Carlos “Z” was extradited from Texas to FGE officials in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas.

In a briefing, the FGE of Quintana Roo reported on the extradition of Carlos “Z” by U.S. authorities. According to the legal agency, Carlos “Z” was arrested in November of 2022 in San Marcos, Texas.

He was extradited to Mexico Thursday on an outstanding Quintana Roo arrest warrant. He will face charges in a Cancun court for the May 16, 2021 rape and murder of a girl in the Santana Cecilia settlement on the outskirts of Cancun.
