Cancun, Q.R. — Two major projects are scheduled for the Cancun International Airport this year. Carlos Trueba Coll, the Director of the Cancun International Airport says during 2024, terminals one and four will be renovated.
Airport managing company ASUR (Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste) will make the investments into the two busy terminals. According to Coll, terminal one will be expanded and remodeled.
It will also be upgraded to offer the same level of services as the airport’s other terminals. Coll says terminal one requires expanding to provide additional passenger capacity and to grow in the phases according to the operational program.
He explained that terminal four of the Cancun airport is also on the 2024 renovation list. That terminal will be made larger over a two year period that will see an expansion on the Huayacán Avenue side of the airport.
Coll says ASUR has already obtained the permits necessary for the additional expansion of the terminals and now, they are waiting on the final go-ahead paperwork.
The planned construction projects are being designed and scheduled to as not affect airport operations, he added, saying everything has been well planned.
