Cancun, Q.R. — The Government of Mexico has announced a tender winner for the construction of the Cancun Nichupté Lagoon vehicle bridge. On Monday, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced ICA as the winning company at a cost of just over 5.5 billion peso.
The contract to construct the 8.8 kilometer vehicular bridge over the lagoon was awarded to ICA (Constructora de Infraestructura SA de CV) by the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation of Mexico (SICT).
The official signing of the contract will take place June 29 at the SCT in Chetumal. However, prior to signing the contract, ICA must deliver the guarantees for the completion of the work.
The construction of the vehicular bridge is scheduled to begin July 1 and last 550 calendar days. It is set for completion toward the end of 2023.
