Tailgating motorcycle and driver end up under Cancun bus

Cancun, Q.R. — A motorcyclist was seriously injured early Wednesday morning after landing under the rear of a city bus. The accident happened along Kukulcán Boulevard in the Cancun Hotel Zone where firemen were requested for his removal.

The driver of the motorcycle was found trapped under the rear of the bus along with his bike. Cancun firemen rushed to the scene of the crash near the Candia Bridge where they located the seriosly injured driver.

Tourist Police and paramedics manned the area for more than 30 minutes while firemen worked to remove the man from under the heavy unit.

“Personnel from the Cancun Fire Department responded to a traffic accident at kilometer 4.5 of the Hotel Zone, in which a motorcycle collided with the rear of a bus.

“Given the magnitude of the incident, urban rescue equipment was used to free the motorcycle driver, who received medical attention on the scene and was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

“We appreciate the assistance of the emergency teams and remind all drivers of the importance of driving with caution and responsibility. Remember! In case of emergency, call 911,” Bomberos Cancún said in a brief statement.

According to witnesses, the driver of the motorcycle was tailgating the bus when it stopped suddenly. Due to the speed the motorcycle was traveling, the driver was unable to stop in time. He hit the back of the bus and was tossed under the back where firemen found him. He is reported to be in serious condition.
