Swerving drivers injured after colliding head on

Cancun, Q.R. — Two drivers were taken to hospital Tuesday after colliding head on. National Guard were sent to the scene on Cancun’s Auto Gas road after motorist reports of the crash.

Responding personnel arrived to a crushed car and overturned LP gas truck in the early afternoon.

Cancun Transit were sent to the scene to redirect traffic since the overturned LP truck was leaking fluids and posed a general risk to others. Cancun firemen were also called in to disconnect the truck’s battery to avoid a fire.

According to available information, the driver of the car is alleged to have swerved into the oncoming lane, causing the driver of the gas truck to also swerve, overturning his truck.

The LP gas truck was found laying on its right side across the highway. Both drivers were treated at the scene before being transferred to hospital. The road was shut for several hours due to the severity of the accident.

Ayuntamiento de Benito Juárez (Cancun City Hall) posted Tuesday mid-day “We have personnel from Transito BJ to carry out the corresponding detours and the total closure of the road to allow the work of emergency units such as Bomberos Cancun.”
