Suspects reportedly arrested after Cancun waitress shot

Cancun, Q.R. — A 26-year-old woman was shot early Wednesday morning standing outside a taco shop in the Paraíso Maya neighborhood. According to early information, two suspects have been arrested.

The incident happened around 1:45 a.m. when residents reported gunshots to 9-1-1 triggering a code red. State police were at the scene where they located a woman, reported to be a waitress, had been wounded by a firearm.

According to the report, someone from inside a gray car pulled up and shot at her. She was hit two times. Paramedics transported 26 year old Yareli “N” to hospital for medical attention.

The young woman was shot twice, once in her right buttock and once in her left calf. Five spent shell casings were collected from the scene.

After the attack, C5 personnel monitored the area through video surveillance cameras and identified a gray Cavalier. The car was seen leaving the scene heading toward La Selva Street. It was later located on Laguna Nichupté Street where authorities arrested two people.

The detainees have been identified as 35 year old Sebastián “N” and 28 year old Patricia “N”. Police have not commented on a motive for the targeted shooting.
