According to police, on May 20, 2026, Abimael “N” went to the beach business off Boulevard Kukulcán where he approached the manager to demand he hand over the umbrellas and lounge chairs because “now they would be in charge of managing the rentals.”

The beach business manager was also told that “if he didn’t comply, they would beat him and cut off his head to put it on a beach sign.”

The manager was then handed a phone by Abimael “N” where another man made the same threat, adding that he would burn down the business if the manager failed to comply.

During the conversation, the manager was also informed that he had to pay monthly “protection money”, police said.

After a complaint was filed, police proceeded to arrest Abimael “N” for alleged extortion.
