Cancun, Q.R. — A suspect in the February 2025 kidnapping of a Cancun man has been detained. Personnel from the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Kidnapping and Extortion Crimes executed an arrest warrant against Miguel Ángel “N”.
According to authorities, Miguel Ángel “N” “allegedly participated in events that occurred on the afternoon of February 22 of this year when the victim, a male, left work at the Cancun International Airport to drive home.
“On the way, he stopped at a pharmacy located on José López Portillo Avenue. Upon leaving, Miguel Ángel “N” and another man overpowered him. One of them was carrying a firearm, so they threatened the victim, forcing him into their vehicle.
“They then drove him to the Mérida highway. They then switched cars and took him to another location where they beat and tortured him. He was held captive there from February 22 to 26,” they said.

Following legal proceedings, Miguel Ángel “N” was handed over to authorities to face charges for aggravated unlawful deprivation of liberty. Authorities did not provide a motive for the February kidnapping.
