Suspect in Cancun jewelry store robbery located during surveillance tour

Cancun, Q.R. — A suspect accused of robbing a Cancun jewelry store was arrested over the weekend on drug and firearm charges. Police say Omar Trinidad “N” was found during a search operation in relation to a robbery at a boutique in Cancun.

He was arrested “for his possible participation in acts that probably constitute the crimes of carrying, manufacturing, importing and stockpiling prohibited weapons,” police reported. However, during his arrest, he became aggressive and was also hauled in on charges of “disobedience and resistance of individuals.”

“Initial investigations link the now detained man, Omar Trinidad “N”, to the robbery of a commercial establishment that occurred on January 3 of this year, when he entered a boutique where he opened display cases to steal various chains, rings and bracelets made of gold and silver,” they said in a statement.

“Following the report of the robbery, personnel from the FGE implemented a search operation. During surveillance tours, they located a male with the characteristics of the person who committed the robbery.
