Suspect in 2023 murder of Cancun man sentenced to nearly 17 years

Cancun, Q.R. — A man has been sentenced to nearly 17 years in prison for the 2023 murder of a Cancun man. In an Oral Trial hearing Friday, a judge ordered Andrés Manuel Ramos Pardo to serve 16 years and eight months for qualified homicide.

According to police, Andrés Manuel Ramos Pardo was found guilty in the shooting death of a man in April of 2023 when he intercepted the man on a public street and shot him.

Police said “the event occurred when the victim was walking on Niño Héroes Avenue in Supermanzana 217, when he was intercepted by the now sentenced person, who was aboard a vehicle in the company of another subject, at which time they shot him with a firearm, depriving him of his life, and later fleeing the scene.”

According to Investigative Police, the victim was killed while on his way to a home to meet others when the shooting occurred. “According to evidence found on the victim’s cellular device, it would be related to the sale of narcotics and weapons,” police said.

Andrés Manuel Ramos Pardo has also been ordered to pay a fine of 103,740 pesos, as well as 1,049,646.40 pesos as compensation for damage.
