Cancun, Q.R. — Staff and guests were evacuated from a Cancun hotel early Friday after the report of a fire in the laundry room. Cancun firemen responded to the 911 call of a fire in Fiesta Americana at Kilometer 16 of the Cancun Hotel Zone.
A total of 671 people, between employees and guests, were evacuated from the hotel. Police and ambulances arrived, however, the medical personnel were not needed since no injuries were reported.
Firemen were able to quickly control the 9:00 a.m. fire, which started in a laundry duct. The fire reportedly caused only minor material damage.
