SSC confirms three shot in Cancun house was known point for drug sales

Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun police located three injured by firearm after a targeted shooting in SM 100. The shooting, according to police, was reported around 7:00 p.m. that lead to the deployment of officers.

At the home address off 127th Street, responding police found one woman and two men had been shot. All three were transferred to hospital. Police have since said that the shooting took place at a house known as a point of sales for drugs.

All three were shot inside the house. Neighboring witnesses said people on board a motorcycle pulled up outside the house, forced their way in and shot those inside.

Police did not provide details leading up to the shooting.

In an official statement, the Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana (SSC) said “regarding the events that occurred in Block 100 of Cancun, the Secretariat of Citizen Security reports around 7:00 p.m., a report was received about gunshots on 127 Street.

“In response, a coordinated operation was implemented with security agencies from the three levels of governments. Upon arriving at the scene, authorities located three injured people, a woman and two men, who were treated by emergency services and transferred to the General Hospital for medical attention.

“Based on initial indications, the address in question allegedly operated as a drug sales point. Also, several motorcycles with visible damage and some without serial numbers were found inside.”

The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Quintana Roo carried out the corresponding investigations Thursday night including the seizure of the motorcycles.
