Cancun, Riviera Maya, Q.R. — The heat wave that has hit the Cancun, Riviera Maya region is forecast to stick around for a few more weeks and without rain. The Servicio Meteorológico Nacional (SMN) says the heat wave that has hit the west, center, east, south and southeast of Mexico will continue with temperatures above 35C in 22 states.
The Cancun, Riviera Maya region has been experiencing high daytime temperatures of between 30C and 35C for the past several weeks, however, an increase in daytime highs is forecast for the coming week.
SMN says the state of Quintana Roo can expect temperatures of between 40C and 45C (104F to 113F) with nights cooling to around 24C (74F). They report temperatures for areas of Campeche, Tabasco and Yucatan will exceed 45C (113F) due to a high pressure system.
The region is forecast to continue to see the extreme heat and rainless days for the month of April.
