Cancun, Q.R. — The driver of a bus who slammed into a tree due to wet roads was taken to Cancun hospital this morning. The unnamed bus driver received minor injuries after losing control of his bus on the outskirts of Cancun early Wednesday.
Slick roads and speed are being blamed for the single vehicle accident that happened just before 6:30 a.m. Cancun city streets were still dark and wet due to storm during the night.
Cancun motorists alerted 9-1-1 to the accident who sent Transit in response to the reports. At the scene, they found the front of the bus lodged in trees with the bus’s back end blocking a lane of traffic.
Paramedics treated 53-year-old José “P” at the scene before transferring him to a city hospital. Early morning traffic was slowed by the blocking of one lane and then the arrival of emergency vehicles, including a tow truck that eventually arrived to remove the stuck bus.
