Six removed from building after central Cancun search operation

Cancun, Q.R. — Six female victims of human trafficking were rescued from a Cancun building Thursday night. The women were located during an organized search by agents from the State Attorney General’s Office and the Secretary of the Navy (Semar).

The search operation began at around 10 p.m. Thursday in an apartment building located in SM 22 of central Cancun. Authorities were at the scene for nearly two hours. The area was closed to traffic while they carried out the search.

When they left, six woman were removed from the building and various objects seized. Reports say the women were exploited as sex workers through a criminal group. Arrests were not mentioned at the time of the search.
