Six injured in intersection collision between National Guard, Cancun taxi

Cancun, Q.R. — Six people were reported injured after a National Guard truck and Cancun taxi collided. The accident happened Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Andrés Quintana Roo and Kinik avenues.

Reports say the driver of the National Guard truck was responding to an emergency, traveling at a high rate of speed when a taxi failed to give way to the oncoming truck. Upon impact, the Andrés Quintana Roo union taxi was thrown against a tree in the central ridge before overturning.

Six elements of the National Guard were transferred to hospital for medical attention. There was no word on the taxi driver.
