Cancun, Q.R. — Traffic was slow-going for more than an hour Friday approaching the site of a single vehicle rollover. The driver of the truck rolled his vehicle onto its side in the central median approximately 20 kilometers south of the Cancun airport.
According to information from authorities, “the vehicle was traveling at a speed exceeding the limit,” they reported.
“Disregarding the condition of the road surface and the flow of traffic in the area, the driver caused the vehicle to veer off course, violently mounting the median that divides the lanes of traffic.”
The vehicle plowed through several small trees in the central median which caused it to roll before coming to a rest on its side. The truck was left partially blocking traffic to drivers entering the city.
Cancun firemen were called in to assist in the noon accident, however, the driver was able to get out of the vehicle on his own. He escaped with only bumps and bruises and was not transferred to hospital.
The Cancun fire department reported briefly on the accident saying “the Cancun Fire Department responded at approximately 12:15 PM to a report of a vehicle rollover on the Cancun–Puerto Morelos highway (northbound lane), near the Royalton Hotel at kilometer 333.
“Our personnel deployed to the scene to provide necessary assistance and emergency response services. We reaffirm our commitment to responding to every call with professionalism, responsibility, and a dedication to service, always working to ensure public safety.”
