Single vehicle accident slows Cancun traffic in both directions

Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun traffic was heavily snarled Friday morning after a bus drove over a median. The single vehicle accident left one lane of the city’s busy López Portillo Avenue shut.

Tránsito de Cancún reported on the accident early Friday morning noting the bus was not only blocking a lane, but also took out a city pole. Due to the felled pole, traffic in the opposite lane was also affected.

The accident happened on José López Portillo Avenue near Pepsi when the driver of the old bus skidded off the avenue and onto the central median where it was left hung-up.

The front of the bus was damaged after slamming into a metal city streetlight that was left blocking one lane in the opposite direction. There were no injuries reported. Cancun Transit stayed on scene until a tow truck arrived to haul the bus off the median.
