Cancun, Q.R. — Authorities say Roberto Carlos Rodríguez Hernández has been sentenced to 25 years for murder. He was convicted during an oral trial and found guilty of aggravated homicide.
In an Oral Trial hearing, the State Attorney General’s Office, through the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Processes, obtained a 25-year prison sentence against Roberto Carlos Rodríguez Hernández, alias “Chino”, for the crime of aggravated homicide, against a male victim.
“The events for which he was sentenced occurred on May 15, 2022 in a commercial establishment located on Nichupté Avenue where the victim worked as a security guard.

“The convicted man arrived at the scene in a black vehicle, accompanied by an accomplice. Then, he went towards the victim and fired a gun at him with impacts to the head, chest and arm, injuries that caused his death.
“Subsequently, the accomplice disarmed the victim of the firearm he was carrying, while the now sentenced man, along with other co-authors, placed a cardboard sign with an intimidating message next to the lifeless body, before leaving the scene,” police reported.
“Investigations indicate that the motive for the crime was an order issued by a criminal group, which instructed that the security guard be killed in order to send a warning and intimidation message to the establishment.
