Several Cancun blocks left in dark after truck slams into CFE pole

Cancun, Q.R. — Residents in several blocks of Cancun found themselves in the dark after a truck took out a power pole Tuesday. Police and personnel from the CFE attended to the 9:10 p.m. report which was made by residents.

The driver of the vehicle apparently lost control and slammed into the base of a concrete CFE pole. The impact caused the pole to crack and topple, disconnecting electricity to several neighborhoods.

Area residents told police that the driver attempted to flee, but they stopped him and held him until authorities arrived.

A tow truck was called to the scene to remove the vehicle, making way for the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) to repair the damage and restore power.
