Seven transferred to Cancun jail after using vacant lot as firing range

Cancun, Q.R. — Seven people were transferred to Cancun jail after they were found using a vacant lot as a firing range. Police and elements of the National Guard responded to the report of gunshots in SM 512 by neighbors Monday morning.

When they arrived, they found a group of seven youths in a vacant lot that they were using to target practice. The group were armed with six guns. Police arrested all seven as well as seized their six weapons, ammo and their three company vehicles from two different private security firms.

In a brief, the detainees were identified as Rogelio N, José N, Israel N, Rubén N, Francisco N, Ricardo N and Rodolfo N. After their arrests, one patrol guard remained at the site.
