Cancun, Q.R. — Seven injured, two of whom were minors, was the result of a clash between two public transport combis in Cancun.
The accident happened on López Portillo Avenue at the height of Region 102, when, according to municipal authorities, the public transport vehicle of the Franja ejidal cooperative was speeding, apparently racing with another driver.
Due to the excessive speed, he was unable to stop in time to avoid crashing into the oncoming Maya Caribe combi with whom he was allegedly racing.
Witnesses of the accident called emergency 911 for support. Paramedics were quick to arrive, attending to seven passengers including the two minors, who were treated for various injuries.
Elements from the traffic division also arrived, and, after carrying out the necessary procedures, took both units to their facilities to for the demarcation of responsibilities.
