Seizure of Riviera Maya hotel does not affect tourists reports FGE

Riviera Maya, Q.R. — Hotel Haven Riviera, which was seized by state authorities on Wednesday evening, remains operational. The hotel was seized by the FGE April 25 after receiving a complaint of dispossession.

However, it wasn’t until Saturday that the FGE of Quintana Roo made any public statement regarding the hotel, its operational position or whether or not the seizure affects its guests. The brief statement came after numerous social media complaints were posted by tourists who had reservations.

According to a Saturday late-morning statement from the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), the hotel remains open and its guests, unaffected.

In a social media post April 29, the Fiscalía General del Estado de Quintana Roo (FGE) reported “The FGE Quintana Roo reports that as a result of a complaint, this autonomous body ordered a seizure for the crime of dispossession against the Haven Riviera Maya Hotel, without this implying the suspension of activities of this lodging center or affecting tourists.”
