Section of highway shut after Cancun LP gas truck overturns

Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun firemen were forced to close a section of highway Sunday after an LP gas truck overturned. The unit was found twisted off the highway in an area southwest of the city.

Traffic was disrupted for about three hours while emergency crews worked to get the truck back on all four wheels and towed from the area. During the partial overturn, a gas valve was reportedly damaged.

The situation left the road completely shut around 3:30 p.m. when emergency services were made aware of the accident. The truck was transporting 10,000 liters of LP gas at the time.

Elements of Civil Protection and the National Guard were also at the scene along with emergency responders from Puerto Morelos. The driver was heading to Cancun when he lost control and drove onto the soft shoulder.
