Second burial site with skeletal remains found near Cancun residential construction area

Cancun, Q.R. — For the second time in a week, another clandestine grave of bodies has been located near a Cancun construction site. The latest discovery was made July 15 in the same area as the first one found on July 8.

Both sites were located in the Kusamil subdivision of Cancun near an upcoming residential real estate project. On July 8, two bodies were found inside a cenote near the construction site. In a short public notice on July 16, the Fiscalía General del Estado (FGE) reported the finding of two more bodies in the most recent grave site and a third in a nearby green area.

“The FGE of Quintana Roo reports that within the search program for people reported missing, the skeletal remains of 2 people were located, as well as the lifeless body of a person in a green area of the Kusamil subdivision in Benito Juárez. Expert work is being carried out to identify them and determine the causes of death,” they posted on social media.
