Search continues for Cancun driver in fatal hit and run

Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun authorities are continuing their search for the driver of a vehicle that fled a fatal accident scene. On Sunday, a Cancun motorcyclist was left for dead on a road after being struck by a car.

On Sunday afternoon, police were called to a section of the Arco Norte road near the Aloja housing development.

Police are still looking for the responsible driver February 15, 2026.

According to witnesses, the man was driving his scooter along the two lane road when he was hit by a car. The driver of the car kept going.

The accident happened around 1:00 p.m. The motorcycle driver’s shoe and helmet flew off during the accident. Witnesses called 9-1-1 reporting a man was lying unconscious on the pavement.

Paramedics confirmed the man died likely upon impact. He is reported to have been in his early 30s, driving a Yucatan-plated motorcycle.

Municipal police officers cordoned off the area while forensics removed the body. An investigation into a search for the responsible driver is underway.
