Cancun, Q.R. — Divers are set to continue their search today for a teenage boy reported missing in a lagoon. The 14 year old went swimming Monday evening in a lagoon in the El Pedregal neighborhood.
When he failed to return, he was reported as missing. Cancun Civil Protection arrived with the fire department and dive specialists in hopes of locating the young teen.

He entered the popular residential lagoon located off José López Portillo Avenue late Monday afternoon.
Divers scoured the lagoon as long as they could until it became too dark to continue.
At dusk, Cancun Civil Protection said their dive team carried out dives to locate the boy but did not find him. They will resume their search Tuesday, while expanding their search area.
“An operation was launched following a report of a missing person in the lagoon in the El Pedregal neighborhood,” Protección Civil Cancún reported.
“Civil Protection, Fire Department, and Public Safety personnel worked in coordination, establishing a perimeter, defining search zones, and conducting surface sweeps.

“Subsequently, the diving team entered the area and carried out dives to locate the missing person.
“A thermal drone was also used to expand the search area. We continue the coordinated search efforts, reinforcing our work for a swift recovery.”
The search and rescue mission has now turned into search and recovery. The young boy missing has been identified as 14 year old Heber “N”. He went swimming in the San José lagoon located behind his school with classmates Monday but did not resurface.
