Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun firemen put out a roaring bus fire in the Tierra Maya residential area Tuesday. An overheated engine in the old model bus is the suspected reason for the fire that consumed the entire unit.

The bus belonged to the Benito Juarez City Council. It is not known if the driver was transporting personnel at the time of the fire. According to available information, the bus driver was traveling through region 105 when the engine began to smoke.
Smoke quickly turned into flames that shot out of the engine and eventually consumed the entire bus. The driver of the bus called 9-1-1 for help. By the time firefighters arrived, the unit was fully engulfed.
The street was sectioned off while firemen dealt with the situation. There were no injuries reported, only the total loss of the city owned bus.
“The Heroic Fire Department of Cancun responded to an emergency call for a fire on a bus at SM 105, Tierra Maya neighborhood. Thanks to the quick action of the personnel, the fire was extinguished without additional risks or injuries.

“We thank the citizens for their collaboration and remind them of the importance of reporting any emergency to 911.Your safety is our priority!” Bomberos Cancún said in a statement.
