Roadway argument leads to revengeful attack on Cancun street

Cancun, Q.R. — Police responded to reports of a broad daylight shooting in Cancun Tuesday afternoon. The shooting occurred on Chichen Itza Avenue where the driver of a pickup was chased and shot.

According to witness reports, the chase started in SM 60 where subjects in a white car were chasing the driver of the white pickup truck. At some point, the driver of the pickup got out to run on foot to take refuge. One person from the car also got out and shot him.

The driver of the pickup, who was now on foot, was hit several times by the bullets. He was rushed to hospital in critical condition.

Police responding to the reports of gunfire and a shot man found him laying in the street. He was transferred to hospital. Witnesses said the man in the pickup had an argument with the people inside the white car just before the chase started.

The white car was allegedly following the man driving the pickup prior to the argument.

Municipal and state police officers arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area. There are reports the car responsible for the shooting was seen on city cameras in SM 93 where police searched for the vehicle.

Authorities have not announced the arrests of any suspects.
