Cancun, Q.R. — One man was arrested Monday night after crashing his public transport unit through a brick wall. Cancun police were called to the La Joya subdivision after the driver of the combi hit the concrete structure then ran.

Three people from inside the combi were injured in the crash. The driver of the public unit took off on foot, abandoning his unit and injured passengers.
The accident happened around 9:00 p.m. when the driver lost control at the roundabout at La Joya Boulevard and Diamante Avenue in SM 254. Due to excessive speed, he crashed into a concrete wall of a private home.
Three passengers from inside his unit were injured and transferred to a Cancun hospital. While paramedics were attending to the injured, the combi driver made a run for it.
Witnesses who saw him leave chased him along La Joya Boulevard, managing to catch him about 300 meters from where the accident happened. Passing police noticed the street commotion and stopped while residents explained what had happened.

While police were being informed by residents about the combi crash and fleeing driver, a motorcycle slammed into the back of the parked police truck.

The young motorcycle driver was transported to Cancun hospital while police waited for Transit. All three involved vehicles were towed from the city street. A second police unit was brought in and the fleeing combi driver arrested.
