Cancun, Q.R. — A tiger was seized over the weekend by environmental authorities after being found kept illegally. Profepa (Procuraduría Federal de Protección al Ambiente) personnel reported removing the tiger from the home with the help of a veterinarian.

Profepa personnel in Quintana Roo collaborated with the Attorney General’s Office to care for and transport a tiger (Panthera tigris) found during an operation at a seized property in Cancun.
With the support of a specialist veterinarian, the animal was restrained, physically evaluated, and its markings verified. It was subsequently transferred to an authorized PIMVS (Protective and Sanitary Institution) for safekeeping.
Profepa will continue to provide technical support in coordination with ministerial authorities, in accordance with current environmental regulations.”
