Cancun, Q.R. — A man outfitted with an electronic monitoring bracelet has been arrested for extortion in a police sting. After his arrest five months before for drug dealing, he was given an electronic monitoring bracelet while carrying out his trial in freedom.
Victor “N” has been arrested again, this time for extortion.
“The first investigations indicate that three people recently went to an establishment located on Kabah Avenue, between Niño Héroes and 20 de Noviembre Avenues of Cancun, where they demanded 25,000 pesos from the manager so that the business could continue to functioning normally.
“Subsequently, after agreeing with the subjects to deliver 10,000 pesos, Víctor “N” arrived at the place to receive the money, at which time he was detained,” the FGE reported.
Two males watching from a distance on a motorcycle fled when they realized it was a police sting.
“The accused, along with the evidence secured, was placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office,” they said. Authorities did not say how Victor “N” was able to travel while wearing the electronic monitoring device.
