Police searching for suspects in aggravated robbery of private Cancun hospital

Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun police continue their search for suspects involved in an early morning robbery of a hospital. Reports say early this morning, a private hospital in SM 12 was robbed by individuals who arrived on several motorcycles.

Reports by local media say it was the Galina Hospital in SM 12 of Cancun that was the target of the early morning attack.

The State Attorney General (FGE) said in a statement Thursday afternoon that members of their Interinstitutional Group are reviewing security footage to locate those involved who are facing charges of aggravated robbery.

The theft happened sometime between 3:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. Thursday morning. While police have confirmed the robbery took place at a private clinic, they did not name the hospital or say what was taken.

Security cameras captured the men inside the hospital January 29, 2026.

“The Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office (FGE Quintana Roo) has opened an investigation into the aggravated robbery of a private hospital in the municipality of Benito Juárez,” they reported Thursday afternoon.

“In coordination with members of the Interinstitutional Group, the investigation is underway to identify those responsible.

“The incident occurred early Thursday morning. Since the report was filed, authorities have been working together, reviewing security camera footage connected to the C5 command center.

“The Attorney General’s Office reiterates its commitment to zero impunity and to bringing those responsible for this crime to justice. The corresponding investigations will continue.”

Local reports say men dressed in black arrived on three motorcycles and overpowered security guards to gain entrance to the hospital. Police did not say if anyone was injured during the robbery or if the suspects were armed.
