Cancun, Q.R. — State officials have begun an investigation into the shooting of a fireman Thursday inside a Cancun fire hall. The Fiscalía General del Estado (FGE) says a fireman was rushed to hospital Thursday morning after being shot.
The unnamed supervisor was shot twice at a fire hall in SM 100 on Chac Mool Avenue. The shooting was reported to emergency services around 8:30 a.m. after he was found by fellow firemen.
Reports say three shots were fired with two of them hitting him in the upper body.
According to the FGE, their line of investigation is personal revenge, however, they did not provide details.
In a brief statement, the State Attorney General (FGE) said “The FGE reports the beginning of an investigation for the crime of attempted homicide to the detriment of a male person who works as a firefighter in Cancun.
“This autonomous body indicates that it was a direct attack against this element, who was transferred to a hospital for medical attention.
“The State Attorney General’s Office, in collaboration with members of the State Coordination for the Construction of Peace and Security in Quintana Roo, is working to find the person or persons responsible for this event, which, the first investigations, point to possible personal revenge.”
The man was alone at the time of the shooting. He was found by fellow firemen who had arrived for a shift. He was transferred to hospital by ambulance.
