Cancun, Q.R. — Quintana Roo Police agents, assisted by trained dogs, inspected vehicles in a Cancun Hotel Zone parking lot Tuesday. The second search operation was initiated after they responded to the report of an explosive device inside a vehicle the night before.
During Monday night and into Tuesday morning, police officers and members of the Mexican Army cordoned off the area while they investigated the report of a suspicious device inside a parked truck. The vehicle, which was parked in the back of the lot, saw the area taped off from 9:00 p.m. Monday night until 3:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.
This resulted in part of Kukulcán Boulevard being closed while personnel from the Secretariat of National Defense, specialized in handling explosives, were brought in. Although there was no announcement of the discovery of an explosive device, police were on site again Tuesday with dogs searching the area.
