Cancun, Q.R. — Six people were removed from a Cancun house Thursday during a police operation. The five women and one minor male were rescued from a house being used for prostitution.
The operation was carried out after an investigation by the Special Prosecutor’s Office for the Crime of Human Trafficking. The house was secured by National Guard while agents from the State Attorney General’s Office executed a search warrant.
During the operation, six people were taken into protective custody from the property located on Marañón Street in Supermanzana 25. In a statement, authorities reported the five rescued women were there under threat and against their will to provide sexual services.
They were obligated to bring in a certain amount of money each week. The minor located “was also rescued from the scene. He was in charge of supporting women,” the agency reported in their statement.
