Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun police arrested two suspects captured on camera stealing belongings from inside a parked car. The incident happened on Friday when city surveillance captured a man removing items from a vehicle parked in a shopping plaza lot.

After removing a black bag, the man is seen fleeing into a waiting vehicle on the street. Police were able to follow that vehicle in city traffic and eventually intercept it from where both men were taken into custody.

In a statement, the Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana (SSC) reported on the “recovery of stolen belongings and arrests of two men involved in the case. Elements of the Secretariat of Citizen Security responded to the report a theft of belongings in a vehicle that was parked in a shopping plaza in Cancun.
Upon arrival, the elements interviewed the aggrieved party who provided the geolocation of the devices that were stolen from him. Via C5 video surveillance cameras, the event was followed up where the driver of a white Avanza type vehicle could be seen getting out of the car to approach the victim’s unit and stealing a black suitcase, which had a cell phone, wallet and other items inside.

“They were caught up with on the Cancun – Puerto Morelos highway where two men who respond to the names of Julio César “N” and Cristofer “N” were arrested. Work was done in coordination with the Municipal Police of Puerto Morelos and the National Guard.”
