Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — A beach area of Isla Blanca in the municipality of Continental Isla Mujeres was recovered by authorities over the weekend. The FGE reported approximately 50 agents participated in the joint morning operation between military and police.
Authorities swept in on the popular area known for its visiting tourists as well as beach camping. The FGE says that two men were arrested from the beach for drug possession after the inspection of a massage area.
This latest beach sweep is a part of the state’s efforts to clear public beach areas known for hosting illegal activity. Several beach sweeps have been done along Cancun beaches including Playa Delfines and Playa Gaviota Azul.
